We had trouble finding the trail-head in the little neighborhood. So we asked a local resident where Ho'opii Falls were. He pointed us down this path. He also mentioned that earlier in the day the neighborhood kids had done their easter egg hunt there as it had been Easter Sunday.

Ho'opii Falls.

The pictures don't really illustrate the height of the falls. They were about 30 feet high.

The locals said that the pool at the bottom was deep enough to jump into. I would have considered it. The problem was that the only way to get out was to swim downstream where the water was somewhat still and swampy.

The trek to the falls was really beautiful. At one point, we got to don our water shoes because we had to walk within the tree-lined river.

This picture (better in the large version) shows part of the river coming through the trees.
